Trekking the Annapurna Circuit

Well I managed to find an internet cafe, with power, in the village of Chame on the Annapurna Circuit. I’ve been the trail with Madhu, Raj, Santosh, and Dave for the last week I think – I’ve sort of lost track at this point. It’s been somewhat challenging so far. We’ve had a late monsoon storm that blasted us for a couple of days. The storm caused the streams and waterfalls to transform into raging torrents, and the trail was not passable at one point, causing everyone on the trail to turn back and hunker down in the town of Tal. Since then the weather has been good, and we have finally been able to get views of the mountains. The elevation at this village is 2670 meters, and I’m just starting to feel the air thinning. Climbing is just a little more difficult. Over the next week we will continue to climb, and eventually we’ll cross the Thorung La Pass – 5416 meters (17,769 feet).

I won’t be able to post any pictures until I get back to civilization, which will be a while. I plan to be trekking for another 2 or 3 weeks on this trail.

Ok, time to head out again….
